The life of an artist- Autumn reflections

Willow pig

The life of an artist is always shifting, just like the seasons.

This autumn has brought a slower, more reflective rhythm. September was rooted in making — pigs and hares for new homes, willow woven into swallows, platters and swifts, and the quiet joy of guiding others through private weaving sessions. Planning and sketching for the year ahead began to take shape too.

Now October carries me back into workshops and events. Before the pace quickens, I’m taking a small pause with my sister at the Peacock Arts Trail in North Wiltshire — a moment to gather inspiration before the weeks race on towards Christmas.

Next Sunday I’ll be at the Blackmore Apple Day near Petersfield, sharing my work and celebrating the season. And soon enough, the winter rush of commissions will begin — those heartfelt requests for sculptures made as gifts, always the most meaningful part of my journey.
